Lazy River

Lazy RiverFun in the lazy river at the J.W. Marriott in Arizona On our recent trip to Arizona, I didn't get a lot of opportunities to shoot much of the beautiful landscapes we found there.  My need to photograph something and create something, however, had to be satisfied.  So I looked for whatever opportunities I could find.  My kids loved the lazy river at the J.W. Marriott in Scottsdale and so I decided to turn what essentially a pretty boring lazy river, into something a bit more exciting.  It was fun and a great opportunity to hone my photoshop and lighting skills.

Its funny because people will tell you that you need really expensive cameras and lots of lighting equipment to take great pictures.  I have found that this is not always the case.  I have a lot of lighting equipment and expensive cameras, and while those tools do have their use, you can create some pretty incredible stuff with a simple one light set-up and some ingenuity.  This image was created using my Fujifilm X100s, a $75.00 speedlight, some triggers, the sun and our surroundings.
